Clean Energy BC’s 2019 Conference comes to Trail in June

Clean Energy BC is hosting the 2019 annual Spring Conference, Powering Generations: Legacy to the Future in Trail from June 4th-6th. Trail has long been an engine of British Columbia’s electricity, mining, and economy and they are looking forward to celebrating the region’s legacy of excellence during the revitalizing spring season.

Powering Generations will address how the Kootenays are leading the way forward in a carbon-constrained world. BC’s industries are becoming further diversified by embracing the development of innovative clean technologies and renewable energy projects, which ultimately strengthens our resilience as a province. They will highlight the clean energy projects in the Kootenay region, as well as how these projects contribute to overall community engagement and economic development that upholds the Kootenays’ legacy.

The West Kootenay EcoSociety is leading the 100% Renewable Kootenays initiative which has over 9,000 residents, over 70 businesses and five local governments that have said yes to 100% renewable energy at the community-level by 2050. EcoSociety’s Executive Director, Montana Burgess, will be facilitating the opening workshop, Renewable Energy & Sustainability Explored 101.

This year’s conference will cultivate dialogue on clean energy technologies and the environment with industry professionals and local First Nation partners. CEBC is thrilled to bring together the successes of industry, the community, and the low-carbon economy to engage in dialogue, embark on site visits, acquire new knowledge, and to network with a diverse community of industry professionals.
